2007 Festival a great success!

The Antigua and Barbuda International Kite Festival 2007 was a big success. We saw a 300% growth in bath local and overseas participation, with 10 persons flying in from the US and record turn out from locals at every event. Althou sponsorship was down mainly due to ICC World Cup we were still able to pull off a great festival. Tropikiters would like to say thanks to all who made it possible.
Day one say arrival of US participants and was basically spent adjusting to paradise.
Day two was the Buccanier Cove Beach Fly, set to a backdrop of blue skys turkois water white sand and lush green palm trees gently dancing in the offshore breeze. As the kites ascended guests from the neibouring hotels began to draw nearer, cameras in hand, to capture the colour and excitement of the day.
Day three Indoor Fly, although a school nightn the hall was filled with adults and children eager to build and fly an indoor kite at our workshop. Everyone left with smiles on their faces.
Day four Lawn BBQ, a time to make new friends, share ideas and eat some good Antiguan style chicken.
Day five Freemans Village Fun Fly, many locals came out to show their kite building talents. Kites of all size and shape filled the sky and brought traffic to a stand still. Our US guests put on a great show with quad (4) line synchronized team flying, the field exploded with applause.
Day six Devil's Bridge Fun Fly, the biggest turn out with hundreds or cars and not enough food. Kites no the other hand was not lacking, finding a space to hoist your kite without a collision was a challenge. It was an afternoon of good clean family fun.
Day seven Sunset Snorkel Cruise, relax, unwind, drink in the beauty of the Antiguan coast line.
Day eight Good Bye, don't really want to go but I promise to be back, and we promise to host next year and make it even bigger. Plans are in progress and the dates are March 18-26, 2008.
